Happy Birthday to the biggest pop icon on music story, to the most selling female artist of last decade and to one of the biggest artist of all time. Our very own Queen of Pop, the legendary Miss Britney Spears.

I want to introduce you guys to my new current guilty pleasure, Iggy Azelea. Iggy is an Australian female rapper, that puts that other little white girl to shame. Above is her latest visual for her new record “My World, from her mixtape “Ignorant Art”. Iggy is definitely talented on the mic, her flows are pretty impressive and her catchy hooks will have you addicted. Plus it doesn’t hurt that she looks fucking great in the process. She definitely has the potential to become a force in today’s poppy fade driven viral music game.

Pop superstar Chris Brown is trying to keep the momentum going from the chart-topping success of his “F.A.M.E." album, with new single "Strip”. Once again Breezy joins forces with his right hand man/hit-maker Kevin McCall on the bumping record that was produced by Tha Buziness, and it will serve as the lead into Brown’s new album “Fortune”. As you would expect Chris does his thing on the vocals, while Kevin comes through and spits a decent (yet forgettable) verse. The word play throughout the song is interesting and I can imagine this track making some noise in the club scene.

Aside from Adele no other Pop artist has had a better year in music than Katy Perry. Her sophomore album “Teenage Dream" has already spawned 5 consecutive #1 singles on the Billboard charts, and now the star is hoping to make "The One That Got Away" her 6th.  The Dr. Luke and Max Martin produced track was brought to life by director Floria Sigismondi and features Mexican actor Diego Luna as Katy‘s boyfriend. Initially I wasn’t for this song as a single, because while I enjoyed the entire album as a whole I felt that there were other songs (Peacock & Hummingbird Heartbeat) that would’ve been much stronger contenders for single treatment. But it looks as if any single that was chosen would find success on the charts for Katy, cause “The One That Got Away” jumped to #18 this week on the Billboard Hot 100. Katy’s next album should be an interesting listen as she will soon (forcibly) part ways with the hit-maker that has helped her craft some of her most successful tunes.

It took me awhile to get on board the Bruno Mars train, but now that I’m on it’s full steam ahead. I think Bruno is truly one of the best male vocalist on Top 40 radio right now, and he’s also a phenomenal writer/musician. Here we have the video premiere for “It Will Rain”, which serves as the lead single for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” soundtrack. The clip for this Smeezingtons produced track was directed by Phil Pinto, and while the video is somewhat of a sob fest (which has in ways become expected of Mr. Mars’ signature style), it’s appropriately shot and matches the tone of the moody song.

Pop’s current princess Rihanna, is showing no signs of relinquishing her relentless reign on the charts anytime soon. The Bajan beauty just released her 2nd single “You Da One" off her 6th studio album "Talk That Talk" (due in stores November 21), as her 1st TTT single "We Found Love" continues to sit pretty atop the Billboard Hot 100 very its second week in a row. “You Da One” was produced Dr. Luke and written by Ester Dean, John Hill, and Rihanna herself. While it’s nothing groundbreaking it still is an addictive catchy pop tune with subtle island influences that the “Rude Boy" singer has become synonymous for. With a catchy hook and perfectly polished for top 40 sound it appears RiRi’s got another hit on her hands. I’m really looking forward to this album!!!

Rihanna will release her second single “You Da One” on iTunes this Sunday (November 13)!

Allow me to introduce Swedish electronic duo, Rebecca & Fiona. The pair make up a DJ team that are gearing up the release of their debut album “I Love You, Man” which is set for a November 16th release date. I’ve recently found myself addicted to their current single “Jane Doe.” Already a household names in Sweden, Rebecca Scheja and Fiona Fitzpatrick have toured with one of my personal favorites Robyn and are mostly known for their collaborations with Adrian Lux and Kaskade. “Jane Doe” is a hypnotically quirky yet sleek dance pop number set to a smoove groove and led by the duo’s soft vocals. It’s an amazing track that I’m hoping will get you just as addicted as I’ve become.

Britney’s 10th Birthday!!!

It’s hard to believe that 10 years ago today, the legendary Ms. Britney Spears released her 3rd studio album entitled simply “Britney”. The album led by the sultry and seductive single “Slave 4 U, saw Spears not only assume more creative control over her projects (co-writing five of the album’s tracks) but also ushering in a new direction of the pop stars image. Integrating a unique blend of Hip-Hop and R&B sounds, Spears successfully blurred the lines of the typical pop sound. Even with this new arrival of a sexier Spears era, she never lost her commercial appeal. The album became 2001’s most successful debut by a female or female group artist, and saw Britney becoming the first female artist in music history to have her first three studio albums to debut at the number one spot. To date, the album (which sold over 746,000 copies in its first week) has sold over 12 million copies worldwide.

That Rihanna Reign Just Won’t Let Up

When “We Found Love” was initially released, some were underwhelmed and some fancied it. It was the first time a Rihanna single did not rush to the top of the iTunes chart. Fast forward and the official music video was released. The video did something magical and turned every listener who questioned the song into certified lovers of it. Just this past weekend it was a shock to see the crowd’s reaction, in the club, when the song started playing.

“We Found Love” bumped Adele’s “Someone Like You” from the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100 to take its place. Rihanna is now in good company as she passes Janet Jackson and Stevie Wonder, both of whom had 10 #1′s. Rihanna now follows Whitney Houston (11), the Supremes (12), Madonna (12), Michael Jackson (13), Mariah Carey (18) and the Beatles (20). Now let’s see if Talk That Talk, her sixth album, will go #1 on the Billboard 200 in its first week. Speaking #1, Coldplay’s Mylo Xyloto tops the 200 this week with about 447,000 copies sold.
